First Annual Mosaic Conference: Diverse Voices in IP Scholarship
The goal of the Mosaic Conference is to bring together IP scholars, policy makers, and activists of diverse and multicultural backgrounds and perspectives to explore socially progressive and non-traditional ideas in IP law, policy, and social activism. Throughout the global community, intellectual property regimes play a critical role in human development, socio-economic empowerment, and the preservation and promotion of social justice. Many IP regimes, however, have been structured or interpreted to reflect only the interests of an entrenched status quo; socially cognizant IP theses are often ignored or rejected as tangential or antithetical to commoditization-centered theories of IP protection, often impeding broader social utility concerns including equitable access to IP protection and output and stimulating innovation. Through the First Annual Mosaic Conference, IP scholars and practitioners will come together with policy makers, social activists, and others to present ideas for progressive and activist-oriented scholarship for assessment as to social relevance, legal significance, and doctrinal integrity.

11th Annual IIPSJ/Finnegan CLE Program - March 13-14, 2014
Thursday and Friday, March 13-14, 2014
You are invited to attend the Eleventh Annual Institute for Intellectual Property and Social Justice (IIPSJ) CLE Seminar. The two-day program will be held at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center (NASA), One Tranquility Base, Huntsville Alabama, 35805, and is presented by IIPSJ and Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP, and hosted by The University of Alabama in Huntsville College of Business Administration. The continuing convergence of the major forms of IP protection makes it essential that IP lawyers keep pace with important developments in multiple areas of IP practice. Today’s IP attorneys must stay abreast of relevant changes in the law and major progressions in IP jurisprudence. Moreover, the need for fresh, innovative approaches to new IP challenges spurs the demand for diversity in the IP bar. To meet the evolving needs of today’s IP practitioners, creators, developers, and distributors, IIPSJ presents a comprehensive two-day program, through which seasoned attorneys can enhance their skills, experienced minority and women attorneys can reach wider audiences, and aspiring IP practitioners can enjoy a unique and affordable opportunity to become familiar with key IP principles and important controversies of the day.
